LIGHT PLANE FLIPPED

A pilot has escaped injury after a light plane flipped onto its roof while landing on the North Coast this morning.
The pilot has told police, his four-seater plane was hit by a strong gust of wind when coming in to land at Ballina Airport around 9.50am.
The plane flipped and landed on its roof.
The pilot, who was the only person on board, was able to get himself out of the plane unaided. He had flown from Lismore.
Local police officers managed to flip the plane back onto its wheels and the runway was reopened.
The incident will be referred to air safety investigators.
