Tamworth has the second highest number of smokers in New South Wales and Moree is a close third, according to new research.
The study’s found one in seven Tamworth residents will die of a smoking-related illness.
The report also claims the area is stuck in a so-called “smoking time warp.”
The research has been released as part of World Tobacco Day, putting the city a shocking 31 years behind the rest of the country.
