‘TAKE 3 FOR THE SEA’ LAUNCHES IN BYRON

Byron Shire Council has adopted a Sydney initiative called ‘Take 3 for the Sea’, hoping to clean up local beaches.
The campaign encourages visitors to take three pieces of rubbish with them when they leave beaches and waterways.
“Byron is such a tourism driven little area, there is no doubt that people are coming and dropping their rubbish or don’t understand how important it is in this particular community when we do our litter checks Byron is the hub that has the most rubbish compared to other parts of the shire.”
Despite the many ‘no-smoking’ signs at Apex Park, cigarette butts are still the most common form of litter found on Byron’s beaches.
