NEW FIGS PLANTED IN LAMAN STREET OVERHAUL
18 months since the final fig was removed from Newcastle’s Laman Street, the first of the new trees have been planted.
Two of the 12 Hills figs are taking root in the underground tree vaults, which create space for a healthy root system.
The five-metre tall trees will replace the 14 figs, controversially cut down early last year due to safety concerns.
The Laman Street work will be finished in mid-October.
