METFORD PREFERRED SITE FOR MAITLAND HOSPITAL
NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner and Maitland MP Robyn Parker have today announced the preferred site for a new hospital in Maitland.
Ms Parker says the 40 hectare site of Crown land at Metford is ideal for a new hospital.
“The site is more than six times larger than the current hospital site, is not subject to flooding and is close to existing infrastructure, the New England Highway and other major link roads, public transport and an existing train station”.

This has got to be a joke.
I saw on the news tonight that the government is going to build a new hospital in the Lower hunter to cope with increasing demand. good on them.
Where are they going to build it? At Metford. 10 minutes away from Maitland hospital.
Don’t try to fill a gap in resources like Port Stephens where there is no hospital in the whole area, huge population growth with more planned,
long travel times to existing hospitals, high numbers of aged residents and the population explodes with tourists every summer.
With our state governments record on corruption, I wonder which minister/ friend/ family member stands to make the most out of this stupid decision.
