A man in his mid-20s has been airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital by the Westpac Rescue helicopter after a serious crash on the Pacific Highway at Rainbow Flat, south of Taree.
The man was driving a tractor , slashing vegetation , along the roadside when a semi trailer collided with his vehicle.
The impact caused the tractor driver to be thrown out of his cab, suffering serious head injuries.
