A ‘watch and act’ alert has been issued to, residents at Lake Munmorah after a bushfire early this afternoon.
While the blaze has now been contained, locals say they were worried when they could see the flames.
The fire has already burned around 12 hectares near Birdie Beach Drive and Elizabeth Bay Drive but the New South Wales Rural Fire Service say they’re continuing to secure the area with the help of two bomber helicopters.
Fire investigations are yet to determine the cause.
