ELECTRICITY IN THE AIR FOR HUNTER FESTIVAL

race

There’ll be electricity in the air this Sunday when environmentally friendly vehicles of all shapes and sizes compete at the Hunter Valley Electric Vehicle Festival.

The festival aims to highlight the importance of sustainable transport by challenging participants in fun and innovative ways to design and create racers which operate only on battery power.

However organiser Danielle Lloyd-Prichard says its set its sights much higher, viewing the new transport as having huge potential for the future. “The festival offers a platform for industry, manufacturing, research, educational institutions, government and the community to come together and contribute to the creation of an electric vehicle future for the Hunter,”.

The festival hopes to highlight the vehicles as a key technology in making our cities and towns more prosperous places to live. And Danielle says that starts with getting kids involved. “Students are the problem solvers of the future. By giving them the opportunity to develop an awareness of and skills in applying electric vehicle technologies, they are exposed to alternative options for transport and potential study and career choices for when they leave school,” she said.

While organisers hope for a thrilling atmosphere for competitors and spectators, Danielle says they’re also hoping for a day of reflecting on “clean and quiet possibilities for the future”.
