NEW FREE NIGHTRIDER BUS SERVICE IN COFFS

A free bus service to take party-goers home on Saturday nights will start up in Coffs Harbour this weekend.
The six month trial, funded by council, will cost $10,000, but it’s hoped sponsorship or grants can be secured to allow the service to continue beyond January next year.
Councillor Sally Townley says there’s a high rate of people being charged with drink driving in the city, and is blaming the current lack of transport options at night for the trend.
Councillor Townley said “We’re hoping that this is really going to lead to a reduction in drink driving – people are going to have a safe, affordable means to get home after a night in town.”
The bus will stop at popular night spots from 2.30 on Sunday mornings, and drop people off at central locations along the northern beaches.
