SAFETY UPGRADE AT BLACKSMITHS

A notorious stretch of the Pacific Highway at Blacksmiths will soon become a little safer.
A new wire barrier and anti-skid surface will be added near the Turea Street intersection.
A 3,000-signature-strong petition was also presented to Swansea MP, Robert Coombs, today calling for a reduction in the speed limit.
“On both sides of the highway, 60 kilometre zone, speed cameras at the lights here, and some warning signs.”
Debbie Tonner’s daughter was killed at the intersection six months ago when her car crossed to the wrong side of the road.
“I know that’s what my daughter Carla would want me to do to prevent the next person.”
