A four bedroom house in Merewether, worth around $600 000, been destroyed by fire early this morning.
A fire officer sustained a minor burn while trying to extinguish the blaze which took hold of the Flowerdale Drive home just before 2 o’clock.
The 63-year-old owner of the house was away fishing at the time.
Crews are still trying to dampen the site, and make sure the structure is stable, with concerns the structure could collapse onto the road.
The cause is still unknown.
