CESSNOCK COUNCIL TO VOTE ON CSG BAN
Cessnock Council will meet tonight to vote on a recommendation to oppose CSG in the area.
The recommendation concedes coal seam gas activities are not “compatible with the agricultural, environmental, economic and social elements and uniqueness that embody” the Cessnock LGA.
Hunter Greens candidate David Atwell says the recommendation is a fundamental step to ensure that like Singleton, Cessnock can ban CSG.
“It is extremely important for the future of the Hunter Valley, especially in respect to its agriculture including the vineyards,” he said.
Mr Atwell has called concerned residents to attend the meeting at Council Chambers at 6.30pm.
