Michael Allan Jacobs has been found guilty of murdering highway patrol officer, Senior Constable David Rixon in Tamworth last year.
Senior Constable Rixon’s widow, Fiona Rixon wept in the court, smiled and mouthed “thank you” to the jury.
49-year-old Jacobs had pleaded not guilty to shooting the officer while he was carrying out a random breath test in West Tamworth on March 1 2012.
The Crown alleged Jacobs shot the father or six, with the bullet travelling through his wrist and into his chest, piercing the officer’s heart and lung.
