A artist from near Newcastle has taken out this year’s Major Prize at the Taree Open Art Exhibition.
Christine Hogan from Port Stephens was awarded the $1,000 prize with her painting ‘Tranquility’.
Her work was among more than 400 entries, with artists from across the country submitting drawings, paintings and sculptures.
Now in its 37th year, the exhibition is one of the longest-running art competitions in the Manning Valley.
The works are on display at Taree High School until next Sunday.
