Coffs Harbour Council is defending its decision to continue the CBD special rate until 2023.
IPART approved the rate variation this week, which will increase council’s general income by almost 5.5%
“I think the important message is that comes off the back end of the CBD businesses community approaching council, saying we want to continue it to do more in the city centre, so we can activate and continue to activate the city centre” said General Manager of Coffs Council, Steve McGrath.
The income will be used to renew streetscapes, improve pedestrian and traffic flow, and upgrade city centre infrastructure.
