A glance at this year’s Queens Birthday Honours list shows the extraordinary contribution ordinary people make in the New England North West.
This year, 18 residents from the region have been recognised.

The achievements of nine mid north coast residents have been recognised in today’s Queen’s Birthday honours list.
Among them, Port Macquarie’s Sister Marjorie McLachlan – who founded the town’s soup kitchen, and the Hunter Carers for the Intellectually Disabled.

On the Northern Rivers, four people were awarded the Order of Australia.
From helping out during floods in the region to providing international aide, between them they have spent more than a century serving others.
