Taree sprinter Single Spirit has firmed as favourite for the Coffs Harbour Gold Cup after yesterday’s win in the Sawtell Cup.
Trainer Ross Stitt and jockey Robert Thompson – who won with Youthful Jack in the recent Ramornie Handicap – returned to the winners circle with Single Spirit.
The promising young horse galloped home first ahead of Save A Buck and Geronimo Jack.
Yesterday’s meeting marked the opening of the Coffs Harbour racing carnival which culminates with the Cup on Thursday week.
