CLUBS DROP OFF VIOLENT VENUES LIST

Three local pubs and clubs have been taken off the state’s most violent venues list.
Last year Fanny’s, now renamed as Argyle House, MJ Finnegans and The King Street Hotel classified as some of the states most violent venues.
But this year The Kent Hotel in Hamilton was the only pub to record enough incidents to be named on the list, based on Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) data for 2012.
Both Argyle House and MJ Finnegans have recorded around a 60% drop in incidents.
” The latest reductions are encouraging given that both the former Fanny’s and MJ Finnegans were both Level 1 violent venues in December after recording 28 and 21 violent incidents respectively over the previous 12 month period.” said Member for Newcastle Tim Owen, “Now they have dropped off the list all together.”
Several other venues across our broadcast region that made the list include
– Cocktails Bar and Niteclub – Lismore
– Port Macquarie Hotel – Port Macquarie
– Forster Tuncurry Memorial Services Club – Forster
– Cheeky Monkeys Bar and Restaurant – Byron Bay
– The Woodport Inn – Erina
– New England Hotel – Armidale
Two other venues on the north coast were removed from the list.
– Coffs Harbour Hotel – Coffs Harbour
– Woody’s Surf Shack – Byron Bay
