CHAFFEY DAM MAKES HISTORY

Hundreds have flocked to Chaffey Dam today to witness history.
For the first time since its capacity was increased, the dam has reached 100 per cent capacity.
It’s a mammoth increase of more than 80 per cent in just five months.
The golden mark was hit early this morning after more than 40 millimetres of rain fell in the catchment area over the past two days.
Thanks to a $50-million upgrade the dam is now holding more than 100,000 megalitres of water, which is 40,000 more than its original capacity.
The new levels are expected to guarantee Tamworth’s water supply for the next 18 months.
