Hundreds of workers at Newcastle’s shipbuilding company Forgacs will down their tools today, fighting for better hours and working conditions.
The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union says work will stop from 11:30am to 3:30pm and again at 7:30pm to 11:30pm at four sites across Newcastle.
Employees at the company’s sites in Brisbane and Sydney will also stop work.
The Union says the protected industrial action will affect the Air Warfare Destroyer project in Tomago.
