SUDDEN EVICTION ANGERS LONG-TERM VAN OWNERS

Long term van owners facing the prospect of eviction from the Silver Sands holiday park at Evans Head, claim the New South Wales Crown Holiday Parks Trust is treating them appallingly.

Those affected say the sudden decision surprised them, given the park is regularly below capacity.

“It’s very rarely full. A few times a year it’s full – even over Christmas in recent years, you’ve been able to get spots there. I guess it’s about what they want to do into the future and it doesn’t include us.”

The trust says the change is part of a $14.5-million upgrade of the park, that will allow more people to visit more often.

Affected owners have until September 28 to vacate their sites.
