SKIS OUTSHINE OUTRIGGER CANOES IN 14km GOLD COAST CUP RACE

Keen paddlers backed up yesterday’s mammoth 45 kilometre race with a 14 kilometre row on the last day of the Gold Coast Cup this morning.

37 vessels, from outrigger canoes to skis, took on the challenge, from the spit out to sea and back.

“They will probably have a few sore bodies after today but I’m sure they’ll all have fun, so that’ll make it worth it.”

In the end, the skis came up trumps – Bundaberg’s Cameron Duffy finishing first in just over one hour and 13 minutes.
