An elderly couple have died during a head on car collision near Tweed Heads overnight.
At about 10 o’clock last night a Peugeot sedan and a Land Rover Discovery were travelling in opposite directions on the Pacific Highway when they crashed.
The male driver of the Peugeot died at the scene while the female was treated by paramedics but died on the way to hospital.
The 20-year-old female driver of the Land Rover is being treated for leg injuries.
