TEENAGER DIES AFTER LIFE SUPPORT TURNED OFF

A 15-year-old boy from the mid north coast has had his life support turned off after receiving a serious blow to the head during a football match on the weekend.

Jake Zedzlie, who played for the Sawtell Junior Rugby League Football Club was injured during a game on Saturday in Toormina, near Sawtell.

His family decided to turn his life support off this morning.

Sawtell JRLFC President Karena Duggan says the teenager will be incredibly missed.

“This accident which has occurred is a tragedy and our hearts go out to Jake and his family.”

“Jake was a good kid, who always had a smile on his face, who loved being part of a team and who loved his footy.”

“All of us are now coming to grips with what has just been a tragic accident, it was just one of those freak things that happen in life, there is no one who could be blamed.”

Jake was the grandson of League Great Tommy Raudonikis.
