LIQUOR GIANT APPEALING DECISION

Retail giant Woolworths has confirmed it’s appealing Greater Taree City Council’s decision to reject its application for a Dan Murphy’s store in Taree.
The proposal to build a liquor store on the corner of Victoria and Macquarie streets, was knocked back by council twice on the grounds of its social and visual impact.
Woolworths has since lodged an appeal with the Land and Environment Court to assess the application.
The development would have replaced the existing liquor license of the Woolworth’s owned BWS store on Manning Street.
