Australia’s iconic red and yellow beach safety flags are getting a facelift this summer, with the introduction of an Australian-wide standard.
The regular flags will now be enhanced by a red and yellow feather flag while the traditional blue flags that mark a buffer zone for surfers will be replaced by black and white quartered flags.
Surf Life Saving New South Wales believes the changes will improve the visibility of safety flags.
