A new $4.4-million surf club at Birubi Beach could be complete in time for next summer.
A development application has just been submitted to Port Stephens Council for the project, which would replace the existing, delapidated club, and include a cafe.
The federal government is contributing $2.2-million towards the development, which also needs the same financial commitment from council.
