The South Golden Beach viewing platform at Ocean Shores is on the brink of collapse due to severe dune erosion.
Byron Shire Council intends to dismantle the structure in the next couple of days, but says it’s still too early to know exactly when the popular lookout will be rebuilt.
Access to the beach is currently closed, and nearby residents are being urged to stay behind the barriers, and avoid going near dunes.
