The doors at the Northern Rivers Environmental Defenders Office will stay open for at least another the year.
After months of uncertainty the State Government has announced it will continue to provide funding for the organisation until June next year.
“That announcement is welcome to us however it is at a significant reduction to our operations.”
The funding has been slashed by 27 per cent and it’s impacting on the organisation’s operational capacity.
“We are down one solicitor and the impact that will have mostly is our outreach programs.”
The office is investigating additional fundraising to secure its future.
