A census of sorts today, with a national count of pushbikes conducted at more than 700 sites, 28 of them in Newcastle.
Now in its sixth year, the count aims to get an accurate snapshot of commuter use of bicycles, in order to plan and push for more infrastructure.
The survey was conducted by the Bicycle Network, which wants to see more people riding to work and school.
