Eighteen candidates are in the race for one of nine positions on Kyogle Shire Council.
Residents will go to the polls on the weekend to vote in three councillors from three different wards but a mayor won’t be decided until the end of the month.
“Once those councillors are determined then those councillors at the first meeting will select a mayor from amongst the numbers.”
A mayor will be voted in on September 24.
