Port Macquarie’s Sea Rescue Group is $20,000 closer to buying a new rescue boat, thanks to donations from the Freemasons’ Lachlan Macquarie Lodge and MasoniCare.
In joint fundraising activities, the local lodge raised $10,000 alongside Sea Rescue members.
That amount was then matched by Masonicare which will go a long way towards paying for the $116,000 first-response vessel.
The new boat is being constructed on the south coast and will be able to travel further out to sea than its 10 year old predecessor.
