Those fighting to keep the Newcastle rail line in tact will protest outside Parliament in Sydney on Tuesday.
The state government is yet to set a date when it will rip up the line into the CBD and replace trains with buses.
The opposition has since announced it will keep the line if elected, claiming Maitland and Hunter Valley commuters would be disadvantaged.
