Retired Federal MP Tony Windsor says former member for the Northern Tablelands, Richard Torbay may run for the seat of New England.
Mr Windsor says he’s heard whispers amongst several mutual friends over the last week.
“I doubt whether he’ll be running but I know some of his people have been urging him to run and I know they’ve been considering it, whether they’ve given up considering it I don’t know.”
Mr Torbay was dumped by the Nationals as their candidate for New England in March.
He was later referred to the Independent Commission Against Corruption because of his relationship with Labor powerbroker Eddie Obeid.
