A distraught Jobe Wheelhouse today announced he’ll no longer be playing for the Newcastle Jets – effective immediately.
The 105-game veteran and current captain was told a week ago he wasn’t going to be offered a new contract with the club.
“Probably just cause my heart’s not hear anymore I guess that’s the main thing. I think I’d be cheating myself and cheating my teammates if I was to turn up to training and pick up a pay check for something I just wasn’t in it for” said Wheelhouse.
Wheelhouse recently declined an offer to join the Melbourne Heart, and isn’t certain where his future lies.
