HUNTER ALP MEMBERS WELCOME ELECTION

Labor candidate for the seat of Newcastle Sharon Claydon says she is looking forward to the campaign ahead, with Prime Minister Julia Gillard today announcing the federal election will be held in September.
“The Federal Labor Government has invested over $2-billion into Newcastle since its election in 2007. I will use my experience and skills to continue to build on this investment to deliver ongoing opportunities for our city.”
Ms Claydon says the party will be focusing on policies that improve access to education and focus on industry and innovation to ensure jobs for the future.
Ms Claydon was announced as the Labor candidate for the seat of Newcastle , when current Member for Newcastle Sharon Grierson announced she would retire at the end of the current term.
Meanwhile, Member for Shortland Jill Hall who is currently in Alice Springs chairing a committee on Health and Ageing, says she “Welcomes the certainty of the set date.”
She’ll be up against former NBN journalist and newsreader John Church who announced last year he’ll be the Liberals’ candidate for Shortland.
This is so biased. There is no mention at all of the Liberal Candidate for Newcastle. Sorry but NBN should not be this biased and only mention one candidate and not Jaime Abbott.
I will be complaining to the Media Watchdog about this.
Thanks to NBN for devoting air time to DRN – its obvious that there are many people out there who would like to volunteer and donate to this worthy group and now they know all about the good work of Dog Rescue Newcastle!
