Dog Rescue Newcastle, Caves Beach Surf Lifesaving Club and the NSW Men’s Shed Association are among the volunteer Lake Macquarie groups set to benefit from federal grants.
The funds were made available from the Federal Government’s 2013 Volunteer Grants Program.
Federal Member for Shortland, Jill Hall MP, says the money will make a big difference in the community.
“The money will help these volunteer groups meet the ongoing costs of running their not-for-profit organisation.
“Volunteers make a huge contribution to our society and do a fabulous job working with community members and groups,” she said.
