The Stockton ferry took a detour from its usual harbour crossing this morning to assist water police in a training exercise.
Officers used their high-powered rigid inflatable craft to approach the ferry for boarding practise.
State protection group officers and a police dog played out several scenarios, such as searching for an object, and detaining a suspect.
It’s routine training for the police – and definitely wouldn’t have been a good day to try and skip a fare.
