A volunteer snake handler crashed his car into a tree after being bitten by a venomous snake on the mid north coast.
The man was bitten but thought it was a harmless brown tree snake, while removing the snake from behind a computer at a house in Bonville.
A few minutes later, as he was driving away, he lost consciousness and his vehicle swerved off the road and crashed into a tree.
Paramedics raced him to Coffs Harbour hospital where he was admitted to intensive care and given an anti-venene shot.
He’s now in a stable condition.
