PARAGLIDER FRACTURES SPINE AFTER PARACHUTE COLLAPSES

A paraglider is in a serious but stable condition, after slamming into a hill in the Byron Bay hinterland late yesterday.
It’s believed he was attempting to land, when ‘turbulent thermal air’ caused his parachute to collapse.
He fractured his spine and had to be winched to safety.
“When we found him he was in quite a stable condition and could still wiggle his toes which is a really good sign and so although we still suspected spinal injuries and treated him as such it was good signs from the start”
