PROPOSAL FOR NEW MANAGEMENT OF OLD BAR POOL

CCTV cameras and extra monitoring are some of the measures to be introduced to Old Bar’s community pool, if taken over by new management.

Greater Taree City Council is calling for public feedback on a proposal which would see the local caravan park take over the reigns.

  1. What a wonderful story. This is so true. We were stunned this year to have no lifeguard in the holiday season with so many users in the pool. Good on Lanis for wanting to take it on. This pool is a draw card to the area and its a pity it’s unsafe with a fence an 8 year old can open. Good luck Lanis.

  2. awesome story. its good to get it out to the public and let everyone know what is going on in the local area. i think it is a great idea for the caravan park to take it over as it will make it safer and keep it open for the old bar residents and caravan park goers.

  3. I swim laps in Old Bar pool daily for my main form of exercise (1.5-2km per day). I have three young children, who use the pool 2-3 times per week.

I do NOT want Lani’s to take over the management of Old Bar Pool.

I think the facility is fine as it is. Council does an adequate job maintaining Old Bar Pool. I do not see how having Forster’s wealthiest man take control of a small village’s community pool will benefit the Old Bar community in any way in the future. I feel that Council is blinded by short-term financial ease, over the long-term needs of the Old Bar community. MALC is too far for me to drive to on a daily basis (25+ minutes) and too costly to pay for use each day.

I sincerely hope that Council takes into account Old Bar community members wishes, over those of Nino Lani (and his team).
