OPEN CUT COAL MINE PLANS PUSH FORWARD

Plans for an open cut coal mine in Gloucester have taken a step forward, with Gloucester Resources Limited submitting a DA and Environmental Impact Statement to the state government.

The company’s $160-million Rocky Hill project would see a mine developed on the outskirts of the town, with a lifespan of 21 years.

The Department of Planning and Infrastructure will now review the documents, and if approved, they’ll be placed on public exhibition early next year.
