UPDATE: WOMAN APPEALS LIFE SENTENCE FOR STARVING DAUGHTER

A Hawks Nest woman who murdered her seven-year-old daughter by starving her to death is appealing her life sentence.
The jury in the trial of the woman, whose daughter died in squalid conditions at the family’s home in 2007, was not given adequate directions, the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal was told on Friday.
The woman’s autistic daughter, known only as Ebony, was 106cm tall and weighed just nine kilograms when she died at the family’s home of severe malnutrition.
Her defence rests on the assertion that, for a number of reasons including intoxication, she did not realise the seriousness of her child’s condition.
