Work to begin on the $110-million upgrade of Port Macquarie Base Hospital is one step closer, with tenders awarded for the construction.
Watpac Construction New South Wales and National Buildplan Group will build the fourth and fifth pods of the hospital.
That includes a new 30-bed inpatient unit, 12 extra surgical beds and expanding the emergency department.
Works on the main contract are due to begin this month.
