TOUR PEDALS TO PREVENT CANCER

The Tour de Cure cycling group pedalled into Tamworth today, keen to spread the cancer prevention message to Carinya Christian School students.

“We can hopefully impart a message of being fit, healthy and happy in the communities that we visit. We visit a lot of schools, and the kids embrace that sort of message.” – Geoff Coombes, Tour de Cure co-founder

Since the tour began seven years ago, the dedicated cyclists have raised more than $8-million.

“Hopefully today we’ll get a bit of a westerly to bring us in from Gunnedah to Quirindi. It’s just part of it. So, it’s nothing compared to what those with cancer are going through, and we just keep that you know close to heart when we’re making those tough days.”

The Tour de Cure riders will cover 626-kilometres over the coming days, before finishing up in Terrigal on Saturday.
