Byron Shire Council has re-affirmed its opposition to coal seam gas mining.
Councillors voted at this week’s meeting to prohibit CSG vehicle activity on council roads.
“We’ve also sought support from NOROC which is the group of council’s in this area to seek legal advice and to see whether council can prohibit CSG activities on its own land.”
The Local Government claims the majority of residents are opposed the activity and it’s now calling on local MPs to stand up for the community in parliament.
