Police have charged a 23-year-old man with deliberating lighting several bushfires in the Old Bar area last month.
It’s alleged the man is responsible for a blaze which tore through five hectares of bushland at Old Bar reserve in early September.
The fire threatened homes on Richardson Street, but fire fighters managed to contain it within a few hours.
It’s also alleged the man started three other fires in the area during the same week.
He’s been granted conditional bail and will appear in Taree Local Court in November.
