CONTROVERSY AHEAD OF FIRST MEETING OF NEW COUNCIL

The first meeting of the new-look Newcastle Council tomorrow night is shaping up to be a fiery affair.
Lord Mayor Jeff McCloy wants to employ his campaign advisor, who was found to have breached the code of conduct at Port Stephens Council.
Oh for goodness sake, this is what you can expect from a man with the total experience of zilch in local government. He doesnt seem to understand conflict of interest & doesnt seem to understand proper employment processes in local government. What a doozie of a term this is going to be. Re the seating arrangements… how about a Mc’…. drive thru!
Given the reputation of the previous Council with many unanswered questions as to the use of loopholes to avoid proper process, it would certainly be prudent for the new Mayor and Councillors to demonstrate an earnest effort to repair that tainted reputation. This action of avoiding process as an introduction to the new Mayor is certainly a step in the wrong direction. Credit should be given to Councillor Osborne for speaking frankly on the matter.
Joshua Hodges is an Electorate Officer for Garry Edwards State MP for Swansea, does this mean that he will resign from his position at the office to take up this job for Mayor McCloy?. Knowing how we all worked so hard at that office for the Swansea Electorate & the people of Swansea it would be very hard for Joshua to have two positions, I couldn’t see Parliament having a bar of it.
Geoff McCloy should pay Josh Hodges out of his own pocket if he feels that Josh has any worth for his position in office….I THINK NOT!!!!…..
ON BOTH ACCOUNTS!!!!
Jobs for the boys for sure.
Someone from Council should give him a copy of the Local Government Act to read.
This has to be close to ICAC reportable.
Jeff, maaaaate, now that you’re running this town hows about a job ey?
Seems indicative of both the leadership style, previous methods chosen to get to leader , the quality of persons selected to be around, and reminds one of how happy people are to spend other people’s money. All a very dreadful reflection upon the new leadership of the NCC.
Obviously the place to keep a good eye on.
Thanks NBN, on the ball!!
