Fertiliser maker Incitec Pivot has suspended its plans to build a new plant in Newcastle, due to rising construction costs.
The company announced in 2011 that it would build an ammonium nitrate manufacturing plant on Kooragang Island.
So far the company had spent $17 million on a feasibility study.
