BACK TO BASICS

The best junior rugby league players in the Greater Northern region were put to the test today, hitting the field to work on the basics.

The Academy spent hours on Jack Woolaston Oval working on the catch-pass, which coaches believe often gets lost among juniors trying to replicate their idols.

“What we really try and hone in on is the basics of football, the basics of rugby league and that’s catch-pass. Because I don’t think a lot of NRL players, quite frankly, can catch-pass a ball properly.”

Tomorrow players will attend a welfare seminar run by former NRL stars Andrew Ryan and Dean Widders.
